A very special thing happened to me the other day: I was chosen to be part of the BEST NEWCOMER FASHION BLOG and PEOPLE’S CHOICE, during Digital Divas Awards. This was extremely important for Monoclu, given it is only just one year old. It is very young, and the blogosphere already full of other blogs. I liked the gala, it was very fun, full of selfies and emotions. I believe bloggers rarely support each other, which seems rather paradoxical for most people, who live under the impression we are nothing but some envious talkative girls. Well, to be honest, it’s not that untrue, but still it does not do justice on a more general level. Ah, and The Mono Jacks concert! A surprise as great as Helen’s at the Bazaar party.
In my opinion, people who are always in the spotlight also feel the need to be acknowledged. We all feel this need, to be seen, watched, hear, listened to. Should we be ignored, we wouldn’t even strive so hard to work on our blog and, thereof, to turn our passions into business. It’s only natural that bloggers would compare themselves to one another, no matter what one would say. On the bright side, we grow, we make friends, we enhance our self-esteem and we find out new things about ourselves and, only after that, do we start socializing with ease. The moment we feel confident and start to truly love ourselves is the very moment we start realizing there are other people surrounding us. Only then will we be able to say something about authenticity. I liked Dana Rogoz, who highlighted we are in need of online content. We can’t just upload another outfit and expect to be excellent. We have to give something smart. I also appreciated Carmen Grebenisan, even if I do not relate to her style. This does not mean it’s not cool, right? It’s cool to be yourself, right?
So, until next time…. #stayperfectlyimperfect!
