Today could not have been more amusing or energizing! I’m telling you! I laughed hard and had a blast with my favorite designer, Ana Maria Saragia, at Social 1. We started off as professional Mrs. Blogger and Mrs. Designer, but it all ended once we reached Social 1. We spoke about clothes, personal passions, the importance of doing what you like and many more other things. I kindly invite you to get to know her:
- What do you do, Ana?
Let me first salute your readers and thank you dearly for this article. As you already know, I make clothes and am passionate about styling. I absolutely adore what I do, I’ve been dreaming about this ever since I was little and I could not see myself do anything else. I feel like I have a special connection with clothes aesthetics.
- How did it all start?
Everything started 3-4 years ago, when, while at university, I was offered the chance to work in a fashion house. However, I had to give that up because I had exams to pass. For my parents, education was by far more important than my passion. However, I now realize this experience helped me develop and choose another path.
- What’s it like, having your own business?
Starting a business from scratch is really difficult, especially if you do not have support. I can honestly say I went through, and still am going through, some difficult moments. Yet, I am strong and I will not give up easily! You will not lose me or my creations any time soon!
- What advice do you give those who decide to follow their passion?
I first advise them to find what they like and, after that, to fight at full strength to obtain it. I always remember the words of Thomas Buxton: “With ordinary talent and extraordinary perseverance, all things are attainable”
- The first thing you think about when you wake up:
Pff… most mornings, the first thought is: what will I create today and how will I put it in the right background? I’m not sure if you already knew it, but another great passion of mine, besides fashion, is photography!
- Tell me about the moment you cherish most/ best moment in your life:
That’s simple! My very first fashion show! I cannot put into words the excitement and the joy I felt when I stepped on the stage and saw people smiling and enjoying the hard work I had put into it…
- What about the most difficult?
The most difficult moment I’ve been through happened 9 months ago, when my father died…
- Who do you care about the most?
Oh! Thank you for this question! Surely, my mom, who is also my hero. She sacrificed it all for me and offered me the right kind of education; she is the reason I manage to see the best in any situation and in every one I meet, and I am forever grateful for that!
- What do you feel when you see someone wear one of your creations?
I feel, exactly like any designer who loves what he does feels – great satisfaction. This does nothing else than strengthen my feeling and passion. This is what I have to do all my life! I absolutely adore making people even more beautiful than they are.
- Have you ever thought about giving up?
Honestly, I have. I am rather eccentric, which is why people don’t always get me. I refuse selling myself, creating exclusively mass-production clothes. There have been some hard times, but here I am, still standing.
- Do you like people?
I love people. I make friends easily and I am also at ease in any group of people. I love people so much that, if I don’t socialize for a long time, I die slowly, like a tree.
- How about your love life? Is there anyone special in your life at the moment?
There will always be special people in my life. This chapter will always be fine, I expect. I have a particular energy.
- How would you describe the perfect outfit?
The perfect outfit could be described as follows: he/she looks in the mirror, turns around and smiles. The man wearing the perfect outfit is someone else, someone with a different attitude.
- Have you ever done something you regret?
I have done some things which, if I could turn back time, I would do differently. I’ve been through things which I would feel 100 times more intensely, but this does not matter anymore. All you have to do is take care of your soul and make no compromise.
- A wish for my Monocle:
Dear Monocle, I am grateful you exist. I thank you for being different, thank you for the nice experience you offered me – you are a great team and I cannot wait to read the next article about the beautiful people you find in Bucharest and decide to introduce us.
I love Ana because she is someone who shares full-heartedly. She offers us part of her energy, and this is something she reminds me every time I hear her talking about Monocle. She shows the enthusiasm which makes me shiver with emotion.
We will come back at Social 1, one of my favorite places in Bucharest. It is nothing like the other bars in Bucharest. From the strong messages on the lively walls until the stylish chairs and couches, Social 1 is a unique place. I will not tell you anything about the drinks or food, I will let you convince yourselves!
