Among the thousands of pictures and articles you discover whether you like it or not, I decided to write about some basic steps in achieving a decent make-up. Before you learn how to draw shadows or blend colors, I think it’s necessary to know everything about a correct make-up removal, applying the right foundation for your skin, or the blush depending on your face shape, etc.
There are 5 steps to be considered for skin care:
1.Daily make-up removal: no matter how tired you are after a day of work or after a party, this should be mandatory. I found a very good cleanser from Sensai, I recommend it.
2. Wash your face before you put on your makeup or tone it: Toning Lotion is designed to eliminate residues and impurities left on the face and it helps with the Ph skin balance.
3. Applying eye cream: the area around the eyes is the most important area because is very sensitive and dry and a lack of moisture lead to wrinkles. I like the Mineralium eye cream.
4. Moisturizing day/night cream: I’ve tried a lot of creams and treatments over time and I learned that this is not so bad because you don’t want to make your skin addicted to a certain product. My advice is to consult a dermatologist and ask him about moisturizing. Now I use a moisturizing cream from Estee Lauder, and a pore serum 3-4 times a week.
5. Applying foundation: with your hand or a brush, the foundation should have the right shade for your skin; for a light skin, try it on your neck or your chin and for a olive one, on your jaw or cheek line. What can I say about the foundation that I use is that it’s absolutely wonderful, it was declared the best by many makeup artists, it’s Estee Lauder Maximum Cover. After applying it I rarely use powder because it is very dense, if you opt for another, use a compact powder or mineral powder for fixing it.
Blush:
1. For a round shaped face: Blush should be applied on the middle, below the cheekbone to sculpt the face. Easy blended towards the ear, you should use a good brush. I advise you to invest in this, otherwise sometimes your face will look purple and the blush woudn’t embellish anything.
2. For heart shaped face: if you have a broad forehead and prominent cheeks that sharpen towrds the chin, the blush should be placed slightly under the cheekbone and on the apple. We should find this apple very easy, just by smiling! Avoid applying any darker color on the cheeks. As your cheekbones are already sharpened, you no longer have to highlight the top.
3. If you have a square face, you should soften some of the sharp contours of your face. Use blush mildly, because your facial features are already strong. Apply the blush on the apples of your cheeks and highlight the upper part of them.
4. For the long face: the long face needs some plump areas. Apply the blush on the apple of the cheek to give fuller and rounder look. Avoid the sides of your cheeks because it will further narrow your face.
Round shape – balances the rougher facial features.
Sharp shape – has a lifting effect on the features.
Arc shape – a perfect and feminine eyebrow form.
“S” shape – Suitable for squared face shapes.
Flat shape – is the most natural form and is suitable for elongated features
After you have found out what shape suits you, let your eyebrows grow and tweeze them more natural. In my opinion, it seems more beautiful this way. I also use a brow pencil, I do not like tattooed eyebrows.
I found a few good eyebrows pencils and eyeshadows, you can easily trace their outline with a pencil and then fill it with eyeshadow, then fix them with the wax in your kit. My favorites are:

In Part II we will talk about applying eyeshadow and lipstick. I promise to publish advice from make- up artists that will give us a beautiful and appropiate look .
